Vlade Divac of Sacramento Kings — George Karl-DeMarcus Cousins union not

“”Both the coach and player are known for their very strong personalities on the basketball court, yet Divac hopes they can “…leave their egos and whatever they have on the side, and try to be a true King…”

“DeMarcus is definitely our guy we want to build our team around”, he said. So I want to keep them both here for now.

He’ll need to start with the relationship between Cousins and coach George Karl, which Divac acknowledged isn’t at a good place in the aftermath of the reports Karl exhaustively sought to trade the franchise center leading up to the National Basteball Association Draft. Whether that be in a strictly professional manner (which it should be regardless) or they find a way to “friends”, the team wants this pairing to work. I don’t think their relationship is necessarily doomed, and neither does Divac. Sacramento has a rather combustible group with Cousins and Rajon Rondo on the roster, and with their current pursuit of Josh Smith, things could get even more… interesting.

Now that the pre-draft drama that surrounded the Kings and star DeMarcus Cousins seems to have settled, team president Vlade Divac is tasked with repairing the damage in time for the 2015-16 season.

Now why is the decision of Cousins the most obvious; well let’s just go with the answer that everyone seems to be the automatic reaction answer: age. For whatever reason, Karl just doesn’t want Cousins on his team.

If it’s any consolation, Carmichael Dave had an emoji filled response suggesting that Karl and Cousins will figure it out, so, there you go. He is what James Ham calls “Hall of Fame talent” and that is not something that comes around every day in Sacramento.

After Karl became the Kings’ coach halfway through last season, he reportedly has been adamant that the team would be better off without Cousins despite resistance from Divac, who took over as president in March for his first job as an National Basteball Association executive. We don’t care if they aren’t the best of friends or mortal enemies, all the front office and us as fans care about is for this team to win basketball games.

If that doesn’t work, though, it’s clear who will be the one to go.
