Vladimir Putin: Russian Federation is developing missiles to breach new U.S. defence system
Yesterday Putin said that Russian Federation would counter Nato’s US-led missile defence with new strike weapons capable of piercing the shield.

In a response to Washington’s defense against ballistic missiles, Moscow will develop strike systems capable of penetrating any missile defenses, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced.
Washington is trying to hide its real objective behind the enlargement of its so-called anti-missile shield across Europe, citing alleged threats posed by North Korea and Iran, the Russian president added.
Speaking at a meeting in Sochi with arms industries officials, Putin described the ongoing upgrade of Russia’s military as simply a matter of “catching up” after the armed forces and defense industries were “chronically underfunded” in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s.
“The decision was taken by the president to continue his working timetable”, Peskov said in comments reported by the RIA Novosti agency.
He said: “Such systems have already begun to enter the military this year”.
“[Import substitution in the defense technology sector] exactly is the high-technology development of individual branches of our industry and, in my opinion, should also positively influence on nondefense segments”, Putin said.
The announcement comes at a time when Russia’s relations with the US and its North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies are strained over Ukraine crisis.
“We have said on many occasions that Russia will take all necessary measures to strengthen the potential of its strategic nuclear forces”, the Russian president said.
