VMA recap: Beyoncé conquers stage, sweeps awards alongside Rihanna and Britney
But the biggest moment for Rihanna came when Drake – in a tuxedo – presented the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award to his former girlfriend. However, he only touched on the Taylor Swift scandal once in his speech.

Rihanna was another big victor at the VMAs, which she opened with the first of four performances during the NY show, singing hits “Only Girl” (In The World), “We Found Love”, and “Where Have You Been”.
She took the stage with a message of female empowerment and made us fear and respect her talent – something only a mother could do.
Drake and Rihanna have been rumored to be dating for a while now, and though Drake is very, very vocal about his feelings for her, she’s somewhat less forthcoming about her thoughts on him.
Rihanna kicked off the show, performing a medley of her hit songs in a bright pink ensemble that matched her background dancers and the stage. She’s one of my best friends in the world.
Drake said “she’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old”. You have affected so many of our lives in the best way possible. For MTV’s 2016 Video Music Awards the Queen Bey performed nearly a mini concert featuring a number of songs from Lemonade for the excited audience and it was everything!
Puff Daddy had to accept Drake’s award for Best Hip Hop Video, because the rapper was stuck in traffic.
In other Chance clips captured throughout the night, he chops it up with Jaden Smith on the red carpet, the two trend setters admiring each other’s style, and dances to Future as he performs his track “F*ck Up Some Commas”.
Male video: Calvin Harris feat. David Bowie – who died from cancer earlier this year – received four nominations for “Lazarus” and won best art direction. Ty Dolla $ign, “Work from Home”.
