Among other interesting features integrated in VMware Fusion 8 and Fusion 8 Pro, we can mention an updated graphics stack with support for the DirectX 10 and OpenGL 3.3 technologies, support for the latest Mac hardware, including the powerful iMac Retina 5K computer, native vCloud Air integration, and improved vSphere integration. VMWare is rebranding its prior Workstation release to the Workstation Pro moniker this year, and the previous Player Pro now becomes Workstation Player.
Ready for the latest PCs and tablets – VMware Workstation 12 Pro has been optimised to support high resolution 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) displays for desktops and QHD+ (3200×1800) displays used in laptops and x86 tablets providing users with a crisp and detailed experience.
For users virtualizing Windows, Workstation Pro also supports note-taking capabilities with the Edge browser as well as touch controls.
The virtual machine platform will also offer 64-bit support with each machine being assigned to a maximum of 16 vCPUs, 8TB storage (for a single machine) and 64GB of RAM.
VMware Fusion 8 ProVMware Fusion 8 Pro takes virtualization on the Mac to the next level with unmatched features designed for technical professionals that want to run Windows and Linux applications on a Mac without rebooting.
VMWare highlights that one of the big differences between its Fusion 8 software and the rival Parallels Desktop 11 virtualization software is that Fusion 8 runs on a per-user licensing basis whereas Parallels charges per system.
Additionally, VMware Workstation 12 Pro customers are eligible to receive $600 in vCloud Air service credit to use for up to 6 months.
VMWare unveiled new versions of its desktop virtualization software with support for Windows 10. Workstation 12 Pro supports Windows, Linux and other VMWare virtual machines.
Centralized Management of Distributed Virtual DesktopsVMware Workstation customers interested in managing virtual machines can upgrade to VMware Horizon FLEX. Fusion 8 Pro might be a little too steep on the price, but in return you’ll get a ton of great features to further enhance your virtual environment experience. Workstation 12 Pro features up to three times faster suspend and resume time and improved graphics performance.
