Vodafone commits to Invest INR 6000 crore in Maharashtra
The Maharashtra authorities had signed pacts value Rs. 6 lakh crore, which included giant commitments from Mahindra and Mahindra (Rs 8,000 crore), Mercedes (Rs 4,270 crore), Panchshil (Rs 5,000 crore), JSW Jaigarh Port (Rs 6,000 crore) and RCF Chemicals (Rs 6,204 crore), amongst others.

“These MoUs will help in generation of employment for 20 lakh youth”, he said.
Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said he used the event to attract several investment offers, rather than signing MoUs, and generate interest in the state ahead of its own “Happening Haryana” investment summit scheduled next month. This will also demonstrate the company’s commitment to the Make in India opportunity and highlight its success to the world, the statement added.
Since starting operations in India in 2007, Vodafone has invested over Rs.113,000 crore and contributed over Rs.111,000 crore to the exchequer.

The Make In India Expo was spread over 23 lakh square feet area, housed under air-conditioned hangers in 27 halls.
Seventeen Indian states and three countries – Germany, Sweden and Poland – set up pavilions. A total of 150 events were organized under the Make In India Week banner while more than 25,000 people participated in seminars and symposia, where over 1,200 experts from various walks of life from ministers, chief ministers, policy makers, industrialists, academicians and spiritual gurus spoke on wide ranging issues concerning business and society.

At the concluding day today the DIPP secretary Amitabh Kant told reporters that the Centre and states have succeeded in bringing manufacturing sector to the centre stage.

The state authorities has additionally acquired commitments from retail gamers like Future Group (Rs 850 crore), Trent Hypermarket (Rs four hundred crore), A-Mart (Rs 250 crore), Metro Shoes (Rs 50 crore), Shoppers Stop (Rs 50 crore) and Major Brands (Rs 50 crore).
