The $80 plan (or $45 SIM-only plan) nets 4,000 Qantas points, the $100 plan ($60 SIM-only) will give 5,000 points and the $130 plan ($85 SIM-only) gives 7,500 points.
“Australia and New Zealand have a wonderful cooperative relationship”. The offer effectively waives the AUD$5 per day Vodafone bills customers when they leave the country and continue to use their service.
The second announcement Vodafone made today is a strategic partnership with Qantas, that will see new (or renewing) customers given the option of claiming up to 15,000 Frequent Flyer points by signing up to an eligible post-paid plan.
Vodafone Australia has announced that it is scrapping the AU$5 per day roaming charge it now imposes on Australians visiting New Zealand.
“Businesses like Vodafone partner with Qantas Frequent Flyer because they know that for the millions of Australians who are Qantas Frequent Flyers, they decide what to buy based on whether they can earn Qantas Points or not”, Grant said in a statement.
Vodafone director of sales, Ben McIntosh, said the company’s partnership with Qantas allows Vodafone customers to gain more value from their mobile phone plans.
Meanwhile, Vodafone chief marketing officer Loo Fun Chee stated New Zealand was an obvious choice for Vodafone to trial its evolved $5 Roaming product, under which customers can use their normal mobile phone plan in over 50 selected countries.
The Australian firm was strengthening its ties to New Zealand by opening its “network borders” to include New Zealand, she said.

As part of the deal with Qantas, Vodafone has also secured exclusive rights to sell handsets and sim cards on Qantas flights inbound to Australia. Qantas Frequent Flyer members will be able to redeem Qantas Points for Vodafone products available through the Qantas Store.
