Vogelsong sharp again, but Pirates lose to Padres 4-0
San Diego is one of the more aggressive teams in the majors stealing bases – they’re third in the majors with 99 steals – and that was evident Wednesday as Travis Jankowski pulled off a rare steal of home in the eighth inning.

Ryan Vogelsong (1-2) gave up two unearned run and three hits in six innings while striking out five and walking one.
While reaching back to pick up an errant foul ball at Wednesday’s game, this fan chose to test his balancing skills while handling a plate of nachos and a Miller Lite.
Vogelsong also was effective in his first start following his serious injury, limiting the Braves to one run over six innings last Thursday in Atlanta.
The Padres and Pirates will play for the sixth and final time this season, with the Padres leading the season series 3-2 following their 4-0 win Wednesday behind Edwin Jackson and two relievers, who combined to allow only two singles.
NOTES: The Padres brought up INF Nick Noonan from Triple-A El Paso and sent down INF Jose Rondon. 1B John Jaso sat after sustaining a bruised left eye in a home plate collision Tuesday night, though he passed MLB’s concussion protocol. The Miami Marlins released him June 2.
Backup catcher Chris Stewart will begin a rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Altoona.

Rookie right-hander Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to pitch four innings Sunday for Altoona in his first rehab start, and will be on a 70-pitch limit.
