Volkswagen recalling 461300 cars over potential air bag glitch
The world’s biggest carmaker said on Friday that the recall included VW Golf, Passat, Jetta, and Tiguan models assembled between 2010 and 2014.

The Volkswagen recall was announced voluntarily by the auto manufacturer and includes vehicles sold in the United States.
Volkswagen has launched a massive recall because of its own air-bag problems.
According to the German automaker, debris can contaminate the spiral-wound clock spring that connects to the steering wheel airbag. The remaining vehicles are being recalled by Mazda due to potential loss of steering power resulting from rust on a front suspension component. These vehicles are being recalled in some states. The vehicles that are affected are between the model years ranging from 2007 to 2014. However, according to the NHTSA, there haven’t been any injuries or accidents reported so far from the air bag issue. But it said that customers who see the air bag monitoring light illuminate should contact a dealer immediately to have the vehicle inspected or repaired. Last year, automakers recalled more than 20 million vehicles for air bag issues.
The recall orders were launched after investigations by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

However, the NHTSA decided to investigate the problem when it received 16 complaints about the ball joint issue.
