A VW India spokesman was not immediately reachable for comment. During this period, company representatives will stay in regular touch with ARAI to keep the authorities updated on the analysis. Globally, about 11 million vehicles have been affected by the cheat software that showed reduced emissions, while in India approximately 1.7 lakh to 2.2 lakh vehicles may have the rogue software in their EA189 engines. The scandal, which has pushed Volkswagen to report its first quarterly loss in at least 15 years, also forced out its long-time chief executive – Martin Winterkorn. Further steps will depend on the findings of these evaluations. Moreover, its affect would show more in the vehicles which are being imported in the country from all over the world.
