Volkswagen to recall up to 11 million vehicles containing software that

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency first disclosed Friday that stealth software makes VW’s 2009-2015 model cars powered by 2.0-liter diesel engines run cleaner during emissions tests than in actual driving.

“We will continue to investigate this deceptive activity on the part of Volkswagen to ensure that these blatant violations do not happen again and consumers can trust the products that they buy”, Pallone and DeGette said in a statement.

MADRID, September 29 (Xinhua) – German auto manufacturer Volkswagon has halted the sale of 3,320 cars in which may have engines containing the software to allow them to fool tests on emissions, while its Spanish subsidiary SEAT admits that it too has a major problem with cars containing motors with test cheating software. On Tuesday, the carmaker said owners of the affected cars would be notified “in the next weeks and months”, adding that “all the brands concerned are going to create Internet pages where clients will be able to follow developments”. We need courage and fighting spirit.

Rupert Pontin, head of valuations at Glass’s, said there was a “great deal of concern” over Volkswagen cars at auctions where the valuation conducts a lot of its price research. “We’re trying to focus on positive, not negative things because there’s nothing we can do”.

FAS pointed out that there is no way Winterkorn, who led Volkswagen Group for eight years, had no knowledge of the cheating, and German police are considering fraud charges against him.

According to the Funke Media group, Wolfram Herrle, chief prosecutor in Audi’s hometown of Ingolstadt in southern Germany, was quoted as saying a preliminary probe had been initiated to see if the company had breached the law.

James Walker, from online complaints resolution service Resolver, said: “Vehicle owners may well have cause to seek a few form of redress, as their cars may have cost them more than was promised to run, as well as being worth less on the secondhand market”.

“There’s no software refit that will cure the problem”, Harvey Strosberg, of Sutts, Strosberg LLP, said Tuesday.

“My most urgent task is to win back trust for the Volkswagen Group, by leaving no stone unturned and with maximum transparency”, said Muller. Older models will get the same fixes, he said. Müller could be referring to European customers, as Volkswagen and Audi of America have not initiated an official recall.

“I did panic”, Paul Wood, sales manager at Birchwood Motor Centre, said. However, France was debating diesels even before the Volkswagen scandal emerged.

Diesels typically emit less Carbon dioxide than equivalent petrol cars.
