Gio Corsi, of Sony’s Third Party Production and Development, has announced via an online Tweet that Sony will step in to fund Stoic’s award-winning project, The Banner Saga. Time and time again, the company has spoken of decreasing first-party development for the platform; while the Vita continues to be well-supported in Japan, and many of those games are localized, Western games often need a little first-party help.. There was an outcry, and ultimately, the noise appears to have gotten so loud that Stoic have relented- they will be getting Sony to help them with the PS Vita port of The Banner Saga.
Interestingly Bithell also hinted at a sale for Volume happening on the PlayStation Store between now and the PS Vita release so keep on the lookout. The game was developed by a relatively small team for a relatively small budget, though after it received favorable reviews it gained a modest following. Not much else was announced, but Corsi stated that more news regarding “The Banner Saga” would be coming in 2016. Because of the delay, he and his team have now poured “a great deal of attention” into the Vita version. To put things into perspective, the game was initially supposed to come out on Vita in July 2015. Moreover, the joint team promise that the ported game will offer the players a couple of surprises. While Sony helping out a developer is rare, it’s not as impossible as it sounds. The game will be coming to the Xbox One and PS4 consoles soon.
The game also supports level creation, which users can then share with others online.
