Von Miller: John Elway to Von Miller: We still love you
The unique status of the ownership situation in Denver greatly simplifies the process for hammering out, or not, a long-term contract between the Broncos and linebacker Von Miller.

We’re a little under 10 days until these two need to agree to something, so there’s plenty of time.
If no long-term deal is signed by July 15, Miller said he will miss the season, but then there would be no way he would have the exclusive franchise tag again put on him the following year. Miller followed that notion up by saying there was “no chance” he would play 2016 under the franchise tag, on his Instagram.
The former Broncos QB touched down at LaGuardia Airport – and was very optimistic that both sides will be able to come to the table and get a deal done before the season starts.
The Broncos gave Miller a June 7 deadline to accept a six-year, $114.5 million contract. But one player they are hopeless to defend their title without OLB Von Miller.
The Broncos and Miller have until 2 p.m. on July 15 to reach an accord.

While losing a player of Miller’s abilities is never ideal, saving around $20 million per season as well as receiving two first-round draft picks in return would make the loss more manageable as well as potentially help the team greatly in the long run. The Broncos offered $39.8 million in fully guaranteed money including signing bonuses and workout bonuses.
