Von Miller rejects Broncos’ mega offer

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said following Tuesday’s minicamp practice that he looked forward to sitting down with Talib.

Miller, who has been designated as the team’s franchise player, has not attended the Broncos’ offseason program, but he joined the team for its White House ceremony Monday.

Von certainly deserves to be paid like the top defender in the National Football League, with the way that he had such an impact on the Super Bowl, putting relentless pressure on Panthers QB Cam Newton and causing two fumbles that both turned into points-in a game in which Denver’s offense was struggling to get going.

The risk: Worst-case scenario, Miller could opt to sit out the season rather than play for $14.129 million. The Broncos could theoretically retain Miller under the franchise tag for the next two years for roughly $32 million, though both sides have spoken publicly about their intent to sign a long-term deal.

“When I saw the overall dollar amount, that signaled to me a deal can get done”, Corry said.

As we passed along previously, the Broncos reportedly had a six-year offer on the table worth $114.5 million.

Talib was released from a Dallas-area hospital Monday after suffering a gunshot wound when a bullet took a trajectory from his right thigh through his left calf, but questions lingered about the circumstances of the shooting early Sunday morning. Such a trajectory suggests he could have shot himself.

“We’ve made real progress over last couple of days and I’m very optimistic about the whole thing so, yeah, I remain optimistic about everything”, Miller said, according to ESPN. I’m so impressed he’s gotten back into shape and is willing to play. “That was just from being around older guys, other guys”, Thomas said.

It’s unlikely that Talib will return to the field for the rest of the Broncos’ organized team activities, which are scheduled to end June 16.
