Von Miller says there’s ‘no chance’ he plays 2016 under franchise tag
Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller.

In the offer from the Broncos that was turned away by Miller and his representatives, there was $38.9 million in guaranteed money in the first two years of deal and $58 million in potential guarantees overall.
Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has vowed to not play the 2016 season under the one-year franchise tag.
While the $114.5 million deal would technically make Miller the highest-paid defensive player in the National Football League, it only included $39.8 million guaranteed – far less than the guaranteed money recently handed out to Bills’ Marcell Dareus, $60 million, Dolphins’ Ndamukong Suh, $59.955 million, and Giants’ Olivier Vernon, $52.5 million.
Miller added that he “loves” his teammates, coaches and fans, but appears to be threatening a hold out unless the Broncos open up their wallets.
It seems like a complete contradiction of his statement during an interview with Chelsea Handler recently.
Miller and the Broncos have until July 15 to work out a longterm deal.
“We still have a month”, he told Handler.
Shortly after Miller rejected the Broncos’ offer Saturday, he cropped Broncos VP John Elway out of a picture taken during their team’s recent White House visit.

Contrast with the $51.8 million Texans defensive end J.J. Watt received on his last contract extension, which is probably the starting point for Miller on a new deal considering his dominance last season, particularly in the Broncos’ run to the Super Bowl.
