VW diesel cars recalled in China, sales halted in Singapore
Observers don’t expect much reaction from the Chinese market since vehicles using diesel engines are not popular in China.

And the worst scandal in the automaker’s 78-year history continues with the announcement of the recall of 1,950 cars, mostly Tiguan models, that were affected by its emissions cheating in China.
“Volkswagen would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers”, it added in the statement. “If VW sales took a further beating from the current emissions scandal that would further complicate their position globally following the scandal”, he said.
According to the Bloomberg, Volkswagen stated in the emailed that none of the vehicles which were sold in China by its two joint ventures with China FAW Group Corp. and SAIC Motor Corp are affected. The actions of the Company’s Automotive department includes the development of vehicles and engines, the creation and sale of passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses and bikes, together with the authentic parts, big-bore diesel engines, turbomachinery, particular gear units, propulsion components and testing systems companies.
China’s quality watchdog said on Monday it was highly concerned about the mechanism in Volkswagen’s diesel cars created to trick emissions tests and would take appropriate follow-up measures.
On Monday, Chinese Ministry of environmental protection announced to investigate Volkswagen AG (ADR) (OTCMKTS:VLKAY) locally produced and imported vehicles to determine whether it is in compliance with the country’s regulatory emission standards.
Patrick McLoughlin was speaking after the head of VW’s United Kingdom operation apologised for the furore and warned that one-in-three of the VW vehicles due to be recalled in Britain requires significant hardware repairs which may not be completed by the end of 2016.
“We are in the very early stages of finding exactly what has gone on and what legal powers may be available to us, but we will obviously want to look at those”, the Transport Secretary told the committee.
He admitted sales and orders for VW vehicles were down “a little bit” since the scandal broke, but that the company’s other brands were selling as would normally be expected.
He was also questioned about whether the Government was considering whether it could fine VW. But road is about to get bumpy because of the huge financial burden imposed by the emissions scandal, Feng noted.

He also said not all 11 million cars will need to be recalled.
