VW India to submit emissions report by end November
Volkswagen India has released a statement, confirming that it’s representatives have met with officials from the Government of India – Ministry of Heavy Industries and ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) and have updated them on the company’s evaluations on the on going emission issue. During this period, company representatives will stay in regular touch with ARAI to keep the authorities updated on the analysis.

The latest buzz is that Volkswagen India is likely to recall 100,000 cars.
This recall will affect 1.5 litre Polo GT TDI, 1.5 litre Polo Cross TDI, 1.5 litre Vento TDI, 2.0 Litre Jetta, 2.0 Litre Passat and will include 20,000 units of India-made diesel cars. Globally, about 11 million vehicles have been affected by the cheat software that showed reduced emissions, while in India approximately 1.7 lakh to 2.2 lakh vehicles may have the rogue software in their EA189 engines.
A specific questionnaire to the company seeking further information on how many cars are affected, manufacturing year and the remedy thereof did not receive a clear response as the company’s spokesperson said these details were still being “investigated”.
Volkswagen Group India said in a statement that the next steps will depend on the findings from these evaluations.
He, however, added: “But Volkswagen is saying they need a few more time for response from their headquarters, they will get a response from headquarters only by November-end”. The ARAI is probing if VW vehicles sold in the country fudged emissions data and is set to submit its findings to the Indian government by the end of this month, Reuters reported.
