VW Recalls 8.5 Million Vehicles in Europe
The deadline from the German government puts the automaker under pressure to come up with replacement software for its 2.0-litre diesel engine by the end of the month.

“The German automaker will have to recall about 482,000 Audi and Volkswagen cars with 4-cylinder turbo diesel engines”. Lamborghini is a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group.
Volkswagen’s newly appointed CEO Matthias Mueller said Thursday that the company has “a good chance of shining again in two to three years”.
Things have went from bad to worse for Volkswagen which has lost a few “heads” in charge of everything.
Instead of NOX, it then emits the more harmless Oxygen and Nitrogen gases.
But out on the road, Volkswagen’s diesel cars have been spewing far more toxic emissions than regulations allow and are in violation of laws like the US Clean Air Act.
Said recall was the result of a decision made by Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) after the body rejected proposals made by Volkswagen for voluntary repairs.
Recalls across the European Union are to begin in January and are expected to extend into 2017.
Deliveries fell 1.5 percent from a year earlier to 885,300 cars, vans and heavy commercial vehicles in September and declined by the same pace to 7.43 million in the first nine months, the Wolfsburg, Germany-based company said Friday in a statement.
The software feature, which VW told the EPA about only recently, could affect the emissions of its 2016 diesel models-which is why the company withdrew its request for certification until it could modify them.
German prosecutors investigating Volkswagen’s use of the software said Friday they’re putting together a special team of detectives to evaluate the massive amount of data seized from the vehicle manufacturer.
“The KBA believes that the software used in the diesel engines constitutes an illegal defeat device”, Mr Dobrint insisted.
“It still depends on how rigorous the authority will be with Volkswagen”, he added.
“We have the impression that Volkswagen is technically capable of carrying out the technically necessary measures”, he said.
