Clemson can reach another first with a victory over Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons fought back, but could not seem to recover enough and they were handed their first loss of the season. If Clemson can play their assignments on the coverage team and avoid making a mental mistake, the Tigers will win this aspect of the game. Clemson’s offense has also faced defenses such as Appalachian State, Boston College, and Louisville who are all ranked ahead of the Demon Deacons in total defense categories.

No win over Florida State is a bad win, but ever since the Tigers took command of the top spot in the rankings they haven’t exactly flexed their muscles like they did against Miami or Georgia Tech, or in the first half vs. Notre Dame.

“I’d feel miserable if guys were just getting blown off the ball or didn’t have the skill to matchup with people or our linebackers were soft”, Venables said. It’s also true that the team with the most turnovers typically loses the game.

Clemson traveled to Wake Forest a year ago as a three touchdown favorite and came away with a closer than expected 34-20 win. Clemson has clinched the Atlantic and likely will face No. 17 North Carolina (9-1, 6-0 ACC Coastal) in the ACC Championship game on December 5 in Charlotte.

“It was just a flawless day for me personally”, said Tuttle, who grew up not far from the Wake Forest campus in Winston-Salem, N.C. “It was my best game”.

No, Wake will go in and try to ugly up the game.

Richmond averages 91.5 points per game (ranked 33rd). The Tigers may be top-ranked and the winners of 13 consecutive games, but they’ll be hard-pressed to match the numbers posted by the Tuttle and the eventual national champions on that Halloween Day in 1981.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons average an effective field goal percentage of 44.3% this season. The Richmond Spiders have split their games this season (1-1) when opponents have an eFG% of 44.3% or greater.

Wake Forest: TE Cam Serigne leads the Demon Deacons with 40 catches for 420 yards and a team-high three TD receptions. Clemson is 10-0 on the season and can only help their cause in the final two games, taking on Wake Forest this week before traveling to play rival SC next week. For their part, the defense has allowed a few points this season, but they should have an easy week against the slow starting offense of Wake Forest.
