Walcott: with correct mentality, Arsenal will win league

Theo Walcott’s emergence as a central striker is another tangible improvement, with Wenger especially enthused by his physicality against Manchester United following knee surgery in 2014.

However, the England star has been in fine form since switching positions, scoring 12 goals in his last 14 starts for the Emirates outfit.

The North London club travel to Watford for their next Premier League fixture and coincidentally, Neville is the channel’s lead co-commentator for the game.

He had faced an inquest from section of the club’s support, but Walcott’s form has helped fire the club to second position in the league.

“I may be wrong, but I sense that Arsenal players go into training on Friday morning thinking about how they’ll pass the ball, score with a bicycle kick, how much fun they are going to have”, Neville wrote.

“I know we face a few adversity sometimes but I am more motivated than ever, more committed than ever”.

Arsenal have found the back of the net 13 times in their last four games and Wenger is encouraged by that. There are very few examples of players who left us and scored more elsewhere than here.

“It took him a while to come back but now for two games he has looked risky”. “I must say the first years of my career here were quite easy, from 1996 to 2005”.

“We have had better balance between attacking and defending”, said Wenger.

“I believe that it can be positive as well”.

Walcott was stretchered off in Arsenal’s 2-0 FA Cup win against Spurs during the 2013/14 season and was subsequently sidelined for 12 months as a scan revealed he has ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. One of the important things at a young level, when people are children, is to identify the model of the guys, give a model to compare who looks similar and to copy a little bit the guy who has similar qualities and what he does.

No player has more goals as a substitute than Olivier Giroud, but should he keep being used off the bench or does his strike rate – a goal every 88 minutes – deserve a start?

Watch out Theo Walcott, the central role may not be yours for long!

“He is in a lot of chances but the finishing is a bit up and down”.
