Wales boss Chris Coleman eager for payback against Russian Federation at Euro 2016
England manager Roy Hodgson reveals that Jamie Vardy is a “very strong contender” to make the squad for the 2016 European Championships.

Dyke said if England failed to get out of their Euro 2016 group – their opponents are Wales, Russia and Slovakia – then he thought Hodgson would call it a day.
The World Cup holders will be fancied to finish top of a group also containing Ukraine and outsiders Northern Ireland, but coach Joachim Loew is not taking anything for granted.
Dyke told BBC Radio Five Live’s Sportsweek programme: “We won’t decide on the future of the England manager until after the tournament”.
FA chairman Greg Dyke also echoed the same sentiments as Glenn, saying: “If we’ve been successful we will want him to stay on, if less successful then we would have to think again”. I’d like to think we have all set a standard of turning up whenever we can and that has been the catalyst for the team spirit. “We just have to get that out of the group”.
England maintained a 100 percent record in qualification, and after a shocking performance in the 2014 World Cup, the team gave plenty of chances to youngsters during their qualification campaign.
“We are assuming that he will be there but it is a results business and Roy is the first to acknowledge that”.
“Nothing has changed. We now know who we’ve got in the draw, that’s all that’s changed”.
“It was more to do with the hype surrounding the game”, Coleman said of his concerns. We have to go for it. It is not an easy group, with Ireland and Sweden.
“There was a very good chance we would meet one of the home nations in the draw”, said Hodgson. But we will try to do our best whoever we play. “I just said, ‘Stop”.
England will play Wales at next summer’s European Championship after both were drawn in Group B.
Wales, whose only previous major tournament appearance came at the 1958 World Cup, face Slovakia in their opening match before locking horns with England, marking the 112th meeting between the two countries.
Wales lost that play-off 1-0 over two legs but complained to UEFA – unsuccessfully – after it was revealed that Russian midfielder Egor Titov had played in the second leg despite failing a drugs test after the first.
Poland and Germany are the top two sides on our Thrill List and will go head-to-head at the Stade de France on June 16 – a fittingly grand venue for what could be one of the games of the tournament.
Group B: England, Russia, Slovakia, Wales.
