It will be the neighbours’ second match of the tournament with Wales facing Slovakia and England taking on Russian Federation on Saturday.

Later, fully addressing the press cohort, Bale was keen to emphasise the team spirit and bond that exists within the Wales camp and how they are anything but a one-man band.

Wales play their first tournament match in 48 years on Saturday and they will need a swift start if their participation at Euro 2016 is to extend beyond three games. But as a team our strength is knowing what we are good at and what we are not good at.

Wales made it to France by claiming second place in Group B of qualifying, finishing two points behind Belgium and ahead of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Israel, Cyprus and Andorra.

“He is used to having the eyes of the world on him and he is looking forward to it”.

Manager Coleman meanwhile seemed to have a joke at England’s expense when Wales held an open training session yesterday. “We are here to perform”, he added.

Ian Rush, Mark Hughes and Ryan Giggs headline a list of players who never got their chance at a major tournament.

“And he is integral to how we want to play because he plays in that pivot role for us”. “We’re “Together Stronger”.we don’t just say it for no reason”. Every time a major championship went on, I watched it on TV, so to be involved is unbelievable. We want to enjoy it and when you enjoy your football you play your best.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the club, I came through the academy and had many great years there”, he said.

But Bale admits he is already relishing Thursday’s “Battle of Britain” in Lens, against opponents he believes have an inflated opinion of themselves.

“With regards to the other teams in our group I think it will be very even”, Kozak said.

“We can’t be every day the same thing all the time”.

Playing Slovakia in Bordeaux will bring back special memories for Bale.

The current squad have shown little sign of similar resilience without their one genuine class player Bale, who cost a world record 85 million pounds ($123.06 million) when Real Madrid signed him from Tottenham Hotspur three years ago.
