Quoted by Liverpool’s official website, Martin Skrtel has insisted that Wales are not a one-man team ahead of their clash with Slovakia.

Bale became the youngest Wales goalscorer in October 2006 when he netted in their 5-1 defeat by Slovakia, aged 17 years and 83 days.

Hamsik said: “Gareth Bale is one of the best players in the world, I would not like to compare with him”.

“The mood is high”. “But we must raise ourselves considerably before the group games start, both offensively and defensively”. We want to do them proud.

After winning one of their past seven matches and losing 3-0 in Sweden last Sunday in their only preparation game for the finals in France, Coleman believes that the key to turning things around and progressing from a group that also includes England and Russian Federation is to take inspiration from the past.

Wales’ injury problems are set to ease for their Euro 2016 opener against Slovakia with Joe Ledley on schedule to complete a remarkable recovery from a broken leg.

“We have achieved that but we do not want to come here and make up the numbers”. If the situation stays the same, the three will be available this weekend. Opening games are always a little bit cagey, the emphasis is usually on not getting beat, but if we could beat Russian Federation, then the England game can go either way.

“Obviously, we’re all looking forward to it first and foremost”, he told a news conference.

The 26-year-old scored seven and created two of the 11 goals Wales scored in qualifying and arrived in France fresh from winning his second Champions League title with Madrid.

“With regards to the other teams in our group I think it will be very even”, Kozak said.

“We get a bit of success, a bit of expectation, sometimes a little bit of complacency and that can give you a little slap in the face”, said Coleman, who kept talisman Gareth Bale on the bench for over an hour before bringing him on.

“I remember the Belgium game [in qualification for the Euros], we were all exhausted [late on] and the whole stadium just started singing it”.

“In this campaign you’ve seen it, after every game we are all in huddles”.

“It was the first time in two years we have been really under par, but it was my fault”, said Coleman.

“We want to take it all in and enjoy it”.

Coleman has spoken about doing the nation proud, seizing the opportunity that eluded the illustrious former Wales players who never qualified for a major tournament.

“If you look at the four teams in the group, then we are the underdogs”.
