Walker: Americans don’t need another ‘Apprentice’ in White House
J. David Cox, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union of federal workers, representing about 750,000 people, said it’s a last-ditch effort by a failing candidate.

While Walker could enact some of the proposals via presidential executive order, others would require an act of Congress or changes in federal regulations. By getting rid of the NLRB, which oversees unfair labor practices, Walker would make it more hard for workers to organize a union at their workplace.
He says Walker is playing into a plan laid out by Donald Trump, and Walker, the candidate, may feel forced to comment on issues he isn’t as strong on.
Walker later signed a separate “right to work” law – which unions and workers call “right to work for less” – saying that any worker, public or private, who uses the union’s services does not have to be a member or even pay for them.
“I never went bankrupt, by the way, as you know, everybody knows”, Trump replied.
The act would create new protections for workers who are attempting to unionize and give additional powers to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). “It’s pretty draconian”.
Walker unveiled a sweeping plan to curb unions.
“Just because he said it, doesn’t make it true”, said Walker. Walker told the real estate developer and former reality TV star “we don’t need an apprentice in the White House, we have one right now”.
Walker won nationwide recognition for eviscerating public-sector unions in Wisconsin and becoming the first governor to prevail in a recall election, which followed huge protests against his anti-union steps.
Michigan Republican Party Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel says Walker will not be the keynote speaker on Friday night, but instead will join the 31st Biennial Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference on Saturday morning.
When the Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in June, Walker called for a constitutional amendment to allow states to ban it. A month later, he said it wouldn’t be a top priority if he is elected president. “And that’s a problem”. “We have one right now”.
The second GOP presidential debate is giving a prime-time stage to several long shots (including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie) who are trying to prove they’re worthy of attention – and to weakened veterans fighting to reassert their viability.
“None of this intimidates us”, Walker said at a recent campaign appearance.

“I think it is, in a way, Walker playing his greatest hit, especially after a summer in which he’s had difficulty finding a theme and sticking to that theme”, said Charles Franklin of Marquette University, who’s watched Walker closely.
