Walker says delegates should vote their conscience on Trump

The “dump Trump” rumbling continues, as “dozens ” of Republican delegates attempt to organize a real effort to defeat the presumptive Republican nominee at the national convention in Cleveland in July, and other party actors consider their best option under the rules. So until we have solid delegate counts showing Trump with the votes, I’m not ruling out the possibility, either.

Walker’s comments were in sync with what the Washington Post called the GOP’s “free the delegates” movement.

Left-wing news outlet BuzzFeed also ended its advertisement deal with the Republican National Committee over Trump’s nomination, with CEO Jonah Peretti stating that his proposed ban on Muslims entering the U.S. “would make it impossible for our employees to do their jobs”.

Here’s Paul Ryan yesterday conspicuously refusing to encourage the delegates to stand by Trump. They had been aligned with Cruz instead.

Donald Trump’s decision to fire his embattled campaign manager less than a month before the Republican convention sent a powerful signal to tired GOP leaders that the billionaire businessman recognizes the… Trump does say racist things whether he does it for headlines, is a bit off or is actually racist I am not sure but perhaps it does not matter. The company declined to comment about its unwillingness to participate in this year’s Republican convention, but sources speaking on the condition of anonymity, said the decision was based on Trump’s comments deemed insulting to women, immigrants and minorities.

“Right now I’m raising a lot of money for the Republican Party, and a lot of beneficiaries to that, and I like doing it”, Trump stated at a rally in Las Vegas, NV.

Some Missouri conservatives have privately discouraged efforts by Bearden and others to oust Trump because of the fear of possible long-term political damage. You could have a thousand defections among the delegates if they’re freed to vote their conscience and Trump would still win comfortably. And so far, nobody expects that to happen.

Trump has 1,542 delegates, including 1,447 who are required by party rules to vote for him on the first ballot at the convention, according to the Associated Press count. Trump has done nothing to reassure Republicans that he can lead their party.

Bearden acknowledged that he’s hearing from some Trump supporters, who “are naturally upset”.
