The Walking Dead cast and crew premiered a trailer for the upcoming season during their panel of Friday – which everyone at home can watch here – that provided absolutely zero clues as to the identity of Negan’s victim. Someone else? Well, the trailer doesn’t reveal who it was, so we’re going to have to wait a little longer.
Season 7 of TWD will be acutely focused on Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character Negan, his ragtag band of henchmen, “The Saviors”, the wake of whoever Negan killed from Rick’s group as well as the contention and probable war that follows. We don’t know who dies in the premiere, but the fresh viscous blood dripping from Lucille shows that it wasn’t a pleasant demise.
Of course that opening segment will reveal who got the business end of Negan’s barbed wire-wrapped bat and deal with the aftermath of that.
In the trailer we also see the new characters, and the comic fan favorite character, Ezekiel, makes an appearance, and he looks fantastic!
Joining showrunner Dave Erickson, along with executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and Dave Alpert, were cast members Kim Dickens (Madison), Cliff Curtis (Travis), Colman Domingo (Strand), Mercedes Mason (Ofelia), Lorenzo James Henrie (Chris), Frank Dillane (Nick) and new cast member Danay Garcia (Luciana). “It’s a really shitty start to the season”, for the characters, Lincoln said, as reported by Variety. One fan dressed as Michonne praised Gurira for her performance.
“I did not expect it to be so insane, I’m really, really flattered – it’s blown my mind”, the 40-year-old Northern Irish actor said.
Among the stars at the panel were Andrew Lincoln – who plays the central character, Rick Grimes – Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan and Steven Yeun. As usual, the 16-episode season with be split into two parts with the first half of the season premiering on October 23 and the second half in February 2017.
The real countdown to Season 7 begins now.
