Walmart: Coke display stacked like twin towers removed

This Sunday is the 15th anniversary of 9/11. A Twitter user known as online_shawn had taken a picture of the display and posted it with the caption “Florida c’mon man”.

A customer tweeted a photo that shows two high stacks of Coke Zero cases apparently meant to emulate the Twin Towers. Black Coke Zero cases were in columns, surrounded by red Coca-Cola, gray/white Diet Coke and blue Sprite cases in the shape of the American flag.

Wal-Mart said the display was removed on Wednesday.

Twitter users immediately responded with angry retweets.

Walmart representative Charles Crowson stated for “Orlando Weekly” that the “display” was removed.

‘This display was meant to honour local firefighters and to support their organisation’s upcoming event.

It apologised and said the display has been replaced.

Still, there have been bigger brand fails vis-a-vis 9/11 remembrance.

Coca-Cola has decided that it would be a good idea to remove the display because it was provoking a lot of controversies and negative reactions from people.

Oblivious staff at the branch in Panama City, Florida, made a decision to stack up packs of Coca-Cola, Sprite and water in the shape of the Twin Towers.

A mattress supplier based in Texas posted a sale advert on their Facebook page for a “Twin Tower sale”.
