This year Walmart is making a bigger effort to avoid the disappointment that comes with limited quantity Black Friday deals. Most major stores are opening at the same time as last year, ending the trend of rolling it earlier each year. Those online deals will start at 12:01 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Phillip Dengler, a principal at BestBlackFriday.com, says retailers have begun to use the term “Black Friday sale” in pretty much every month of the year to describe even the most basic sales. While it’s possible that other companies may offer better deals on certain items, Yahoo Tech notes that their market dominance is the largest factor in their success.
That broader strategy is a backdrop for the retailer’s decision to set aside more inventory this year in key holiday-season categories such as electronics and toys. Stores will open at 6 PM on Thanksgiving day.

Walmart is advising shoppers to download their mobile app, which features the retailer’s Black Friday sale items and will include store maps and crowd management safety plans, in the near future, according to the retailer.
