Walsh Jennings, Ross advance in Olympic beach volleyball
The beach volleyball duo of April Ross and Kerri Walsh Jennings topped Italian pair Marta Menegatti and Laura Giombini in two sets late on Friday night at Copacabana Beach in Rio.

It seemed to do the trick as Walsh-Jennings and Ross reached the Rio 2016 semis with a 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) victory over the Australians.
Walsh Jennings and partner April Ross play Australia’s Louise Bawden and Taliqua Clancy on Sunday as they look to capture Team USA’s fourth straight gold medal in women’s beach volleyball. Should they continue their winning streak, and Agatha and Barbara of Brazil continue theirs, a Brazil vs. US face off could come as soon as the semifinals on August 16.
Walsh Jennings, who competed in long sleeves in her last match, is a prolific Twitter user, and suffers no fools, so it’s not surprising she shut the guy down just hours before her quarterfinal match, which will take place at 11 p.m. ET tonight.
United States of America basketball stars Kevin Durant, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler were at the Copacabana stadium to show support for American beach volleyball duo, just a couple of hours after their win over France.
