“If there is any disagreement, it can be resolved through mutual dialogue”, Singh told reporters at Technical Airport before flying off to Delhi after concluding his two-day visit to Srinagar.

He also sought to make it clear that the Union Government wants not only to have a relationship with Kashmir based on its needs but also strike an “emotional chord” with its people.

“Let normalcy and peace be restored, then we will talk to whosoever we can”.

“Whatever we will do we will do that in consultations with the Jammu and Kashmir government”, he said.

Attacking Pakistan on its role in Kashmir, he said, “Its role has not been “paak” (pure) on Kashmir. Pakistan should change its attitude and approach towards Kashmir”. “We do not need the involvement of any third power to address the Kashmir situation”.

Singh accused Pakistan of inflaming violence in the Muslim-majority region after Islamabad announced a “black day” to show solidarity with Kashmir residents living under Indian rule. “This contradiction must stop”, he said. “I urge the youth of Kashmir not to engage in stone-pelting and also ask the security forces not to use the pellet guns against protestors”, he said.

Mudasir is the second policeman to die in the violent clashes. “I express solidarity with the families of people who lost their lives”, he said. “Our Prime Minister is anxious about the situation”. “Those civilians who have eye injuries will be airlifted for treatment”.

He said the government would review the use of pellet guns and a committee has already been set up by him to look into the use of non-lethal weapons which will give its report in two months. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also anxious about the current affairs of the state in Kashmir. Her party’s senior leader and law minister AR Veeri flanked the home minister along with deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh.

Before winding up his press, Singh said that he was accompanied by Home Secretary, Rajiv Mehrishi, Joint secretary home. “We will ensure they are treated at AIIMS”, he said.

Separatist leaders in Kashmir have called for a protest march on Monday to Anantnag in the worst hit south Kashmir region in the recent unrest, throwing a security challenge to the authorities in the state.
