In a statement Foreign Office Spokesman said that Pakistan extends its profound condolences to the Government and the people of Afghanistan and the bereaved families of the victims of the terrorist attack. “We have been encouraged by some of the steps they’ve taken, some of their recent counterterrorism operations along the border of Afghanistan and we’re going to continue to work with them to increase those efforts and apply more pressure on these groups”, he said. Mr Toner said there had been very frank conversation with Pakistani authorities about the need to focus more efforts on terrorist groups that were “operating from within Pakistani soil”.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and said that Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

The State Department Deputy Spokesman also said that Pakistan has responded to the USA and has assured that it will take actions against such groups. “As I said, we want to see full accountability for these awful attacks”. “And our basic point in all of these conversations is that Pakistan must target all militant groups, including those that target Pakistan’s neighbours, and eliminate all safe havens”.

The mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack, Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, continues to live safely in Pakistan even though the United Nations has declared JuD a terror organisation and has designated Saeed as a terrorist.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at a charity organization in Kabul on Wednesday, which led to loss of precious human lives and left many injured. Nine of the militants were killed during encounters with Indian security forces, while Ajmal Kasab, the lone attacker who was caught alive, was hanged to death in November 2012.

The other six suspects are in Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.
