Pakistan’s Foreign Office has said that it is important that the country holds uninterrupted and result oriented talks with India. So talks (between national security advisers) took place in Bangkok where we discussed about terrorism.
The team held a detailed meeting for one-and-a-half hours with High Commissioner Abdul Basit in New Delhi. So we will continue the dialogue…
“India and Pakistan are also talking on terror outfits operating from PoK”, she said, adding that India hopes to solve the terror problem through dialogue.
She said that it has always been the Indian government’s effort to maintain relations with the neighbouring countries, including Pakistan.
She was replying to a question posed by BJP member Ganesh Singh. “Another act of terror could sabotage the nascent dialogue, but, as Swaraj said, “we would like to ensure we are not provoked by saboteurs” to stop the peace process”. There is no third party. “Through talks, both the countries are trying to resolve the issue of terrorism”.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and his Pakistani counterpart Nasir Janjua held talks, days after Indian PM Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif met in French capital Paris.
As many as 677 cases of cross-border firing by Pakistan have been reported from May 2014 to October 2015, the Centre said on Wednesday.
The comprehensive bilateral dialogue, which is expected to begin with the objective of “removing hurdles in the path of a constructive engagement”, Swaraj said that they would need to have some faith for the talks to proceed.
“The Indian side was assured of the steps being taken to expedite the early conclusion of the Mumbai trial”.
