Ware out, Mathis questionable for game against Patriots

More than 70 percent of their plays were under center on Sunday; with Manning at helm for the majority of their first nine games, that numbers was just 21 percent. And with the shorthanded offense going up against a Broncos defense that leads the league in sacks and yards allowed and is second in points allowed, it might fall on the Patriots’ defense to go out and win the game.

Don’t jump on that train of thought too quickly.

If there’s one knock against what the Patriots have done this season, it has to do with something completely out of their control. Go by the numbers, not the logo on the side of the helmet.

The penalties kept the Bears in the game and outside of some big passing plays, the defense had them in check. It is far from their usual elite attack, but it should be enough for them to get by. He also had one interception and a touchdown.

The Vikings had their five-game winning string snapped at Green Bay, but are in much better shape these days than the Falcons. I have no doubt that members of Broncos Country in attendance tonight will be ready to support their Broncos and do their part in making Mr. Brady and the rest of the Patriots uncomfortable. He’s 5-1 in his past six against Denver, throwing for 1,860 yards and 17 TD’s to two INT’s for a rating of 111.1.

LG Evan Mathis did not practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury incurred late in the win over the Bears. But right now, that is just life as usual for the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN.

Sunday won’t be the first time Brock Osweiler has taken the field against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.

Las Vegas has installed the Patriots as 2.5 point favorites over the Broncos on the road.

Three months into the season, the most overblown controversy in National Football League history has passed. The Patriots have the No. 1 passing offense. This match-up pits the top two scoring defenses in the National Football League against each other, but there is a distinct contrast between the two starting quarterbacks. Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos (8-2) have remaining games against the Patriots, Chargers, Raiders, Steelers, Bengals, and Chargers. To say New England’s wide receiver corps is banged up is an understatement, fortunately Brady still has TE Rob Gronkowski to throw to. Guys just show up and do their job and just prepared to help this team win. The Broncos aren’t hurrying his return, knowing they can afford to miss him during the regular season if that means having Ware for a playoff run.

Brady will clearly look to utilize his weekly advantage in matchups with tight end, although the tight end is coming off his worst performance of the season.

Two games ago, Brady lost slot receiver Julian Edelman to a broken foot. Adrian Peterson, who has been the Vikings’ workhorse in his first year back from a season-long suspension, fumbled inside the Packers’ red zone in the fourth quarter with the Vikings down two scores, which just about sealed the game. He may as well have been playing in a white tuxedo. Again, the Pats are good at the old plug and play. The Patriots are undefeated and saw themselves romp over the Buffalo Bills last week, 20-13. “They didn’t all the time”. Plus, the Bills aren’t as good defensively as the Broncos.

Want to keep Brady safe? “I told some people that I think really the biggest thing about that award-obviously, I’m very excited, I’ve very appreciative for it-but I think it’s a huge credit to our team and it’s a huge credit to our offense”.
