Warner Bros. sets release date for “Fantastic Beasts” sequel
Even though it takes place decades before Harry Potter entered the wizarding world, fans of JK Rowling’s generation-dominating series are pretty excited for the upcoming Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, and Sue Kroll, President, Worldwide Marketing and Distribution, Warner Bros.

The book – a script and not a narrative novel like author J.K. Rowling’s previous Potter books – was published at midnight on Sunday, shortly after the play’s gala opening. Of course the fellow has form, as this will mark his sixth Potter film, in a theatrical career nearly exclusively dedicated to magical goings on, and also a forgettable Tarzan flick. The new play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two, opened this past weekend to rave reviews in London, creating a frenzy with sold-out performances.

Ahead of San Diego’s Comic-Con event last month, Yates teased that a familiar character from the “Harry Potter” stories will return in “Fantastic Beasts”. The movie has been scheduled for a global release on November 16th, 2018.
Kate Skipper, buying director at Waterstones, said she was certain the script would be the chain’s “biggest book of the year”.
Warner Bros. isn’t having much luck when it comes to the DC Films Universe, but they’re clearly confident in the chances of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them being a hit this December.
The Harry Potter series is one of the biggest blockbuster franchises for Warner Bros., which like CNN is owned by Time Warner. Might that be the cause of less-than-stellar sales for the latest story from J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding world?
“I suppose I’d go with the first”, he said, referring to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.

Rowling has suggested previously that Fantastic Beasts would be a trilogy but this is the first official confirmation.
