Later, in Chicago, Ms. Clinton said she knows some people don’t trust her.

“What kind of a man roots for people to lose their jobs, to lose their homes, to lose their life’s savings?” she said.

It will be a whirlwind couple of days for Clinton as she makes a few stops in the Midwest. On Monday, Warren will join Clinton for their first joint event at a rally in Cincinnati. That’s an implicit dig at Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, a more impulsive speaker. A New York Times/CBS News poll earlier this year found that 64% of voters answered “no” when asked if they felt Clinton was “honest and trustworthy” though the same said that of Trump as well.

Today, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee made clear that was not happening.

The largely black crowd included elected officials and local leaders.

Clinton revelled in the endorsement and the MA senator’s tenacity.

She also played to President Barack Obama’s hometown crowd, praising economic gains during his tenure. “That’s what she has done on affordable healthcare, on gender equality, on racial justice”.

“Now maybe we can persuade people to change their minds by marshaling facts and making arguments to rebut negative attacks”, Clinton said. The two women do not have a close personal relationship, but Clinton said she expected to team up with Warren quickly after taking office to tackle challenges like student debt.

“We call her Pocahontas for a reason”.

Warren has taken criticism from Trump in return. “I think she’s a racist, actually, because what she did was very racist”, Trump told NBC in an interview.

That puts Trump’s overall burn rate – the amount of campaign money spent divided by money raised – at 98 percent, the highest of the remaining presidential hopefuls. Clinton would increase taxes by $1.25 trillion. Bernie Sanders, who has been virtually closed out of winning the nomination. “I will vote for the Democratic candidate”.

Miller, a veteran of many insurgent campaigns and Republican primaries, is the most senior member of Cruz’s inner circle to jump over to Trump’s – several other top aides to Cruz, and the Texas senator himself, have not yet even said they will back him.

Trump has faced sharp criticism for his statements on immigration and plan to build a wall along the USA border with Mexico.

By comparison, the numbers are reversed for Hillary Clinton among Democrats – 52 percent of Democratic voters are satisfied with Clinton, and 45 percent prefer someone else.

They looked like running mates, but this was Warren and Clinton’s first campaign event together. A Washington Post-ABC News poll showed a 12 percentage point lead for the Democrat, her largest advantage since last fall and a dramatic improvement over last month when the poll showed her statistically tied with Trump. That’s a nod to Warren’s recent role as one of Trump’s most vocal critics. Clinton vows to appoint trade prosecutor Trump spokeswoman denies shift on Muslim ban Trump camp reassures pastors after abortion ruling MORE, a poll released Monday finds. Lawyers have already requested documents and questionnaire replies from Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren to pander to Sanders supporters who are struggling with the notion of supporting Clinton as their nominee.

Warren is offering a harsh critique of Republican Donald Trump.

“She’s fabulous”, Lana Gallop, 47, a travel agent, said of Warren.

Warren warned: “You have to watch out for him, because he’ll crush you into the dirt to get whatever he wants”. The Washington Post recently described their relationship as “frosty”, citing Warren’s book, “The Two Income Trap: Why Middle-Class Mothers and Fathers Are Going Broke”, as accusing Clinton, then a USA senator from NY, as being owned by Wall Street.
