“I think that’s out of respect from Coach Kerr to say, ‘Hey, guys, I’m rewarding you a little bit, ‘ ” Bogut said. We learned that past year. With a 67-15 record in the regular season followed by a run through the playoffs when they were never once extended to a seventh game, the Warriors’ 83 wins were the third most combined in National Basketball Association history, trailing only the 1996-97 and 97-98 Chicago Bulls teams led by Michael Jordan.

Iguodala didn’t even make his first start of the season until his 96th game – Game 4 of the Finals at Cleveland – and went off for 22 points with four 3-pointers and eight rebounds. The Warriors’ first preseason game is next Monday in San Jose. He’s learned to embrace the role of Sixth Man and feels more comfortable with it than he did last season. “He’s one of our best players, he set the tone a year ago with his unselfishness”. “That was the MVP of the Finals”.

Draymond Green needed the summer to let his body recover.

“You learn how to embrace (the role), and when you embrace things, things tend to work out in your favor”, said Iguodala, who is again expected to play behind starter Harrison Barnes while leading the second unit.

Kerr compared Barbosa’s role to the one Ben Gordon could play if the veteran guard were to make the team. “I still think he’s just scratching the surface for how good he’s going to be”.

The Warriors are looking for another perimeter shooter off the bench. Green also noted he purposely came to camp in “pretty good” rather than “tiptop” shape.

“I think a lot of guys on this team are in that same position”.

After the Warriors opened camp with a two-hour practice, Kerr marveled at how much further along the team was at this point and was satisfied with the single session. If we go out and do our job, he’s going to take care of us as players. Nobody’s guaranteed. There’s injuries, there’s all kinds of stuff that happens.
