Warriors break Bulls’ NBA season-best record

Zach Randolph scored 24 points to lead Memphis, which lost its fourth in a row to end the season. This is because the three-point shot is still being viewed as a low-percentage attempt, and players are encouraged to muscle their way closer to the basket before launching a shot that is more likely to go in.In an interview with CNN’s Andy Scholes earlier this season, Curry didn’t hide from it: The Warriors want this record.

In a statement, Jordan also congratulated the Warriors saying, “The game of basketball is always evolving and records are made to be broken”.

The stars did not disappoint.

The Mavericks had a chance to finish fifth headed to the final night of the regular season but will settle for sixth after they could have dropped all the way to seventh.

The Warriors, led by reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry, finished the season at 73-9 after decimating the middling Memphis Grizzlies 124-104 on Wednesday. Including playoffs, it’ll be the 1,566th game of Bryant’s career – each one in a Lakers uniform. More than anything, I’m proud of our guys for laying it all out there, all season long, for putting themselves out there and trying to achieve something that has never been done before…. “It’s been a great day with them setting such an unbelievable record – you think about that, 73 wins, that’s ridiculous”. They got a Wednesday night that will last forever.

With a win Wednesday night, the Warriors will become the first ever team to win 73 games, breaking the 72-10 mark set by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls.

“It’s a great way to finish off what was an unbelievable regular season”, said Warriors coach Steve Kerr, a guard on that Bulls team 20 years ago. According to ESPN Stats and Info, no player has four games with 10 threes in their career, let alone four in a season.

And now, the Warriors can turn their attention toward back-to-back championships.

“When you find out how that (Heat-Celtics) game went, I think it’s natural to (think that) you could be the ‘3.’ But I don’t think it’s something to dwell on or spend much time on”, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said.

“I just try to keep pushing myself and try not to have any limits”, Curry told ESPN’s Doris Burke after the game.

That’s how impressive Bryant’s last game was.

“All of the teams up there are incredibly good”, the Mavs’ Dirk Nowitzki said. Per SportsCenter’s tweet, Kobe Bryant shattered a number once held by No. 23.

Added Heat forward Chris Bosh: “73 wins and one dude shooting 50 shots in one game on the same night”. Before that, there was history to be made. Having them happen simultaneously only makes both seem bigger.

Kobe might be taking center stage right now, but don’t lose sight of what this Warriors team just accomplished.

“Mamba out!” Bryant said with his final words to the fans. “Kudos to the entire Warriors organization”. Based on how the Warriors handled the Rockets, a fourth game could have been the difference between the Rockets making or missing the playoffs.
