Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors was arrested for assault in Easy Lansing, Michigan over the weekend.

Green, 26, is a native of Saginaw, Michigan, and played at Michigan State from 2008 to 2012.

The NBA offseason is just beginning but already it has created some problems for the Golden State Warriors.

According to the documents, Green was arrested on a misdemeanour assault and battery charge in the early morning hours on Sunday.

The East Lansing Police Department arrested Green at 2:28 a.m., and he was released on $200 bond.

The Warriors released a short statement saying there were aware of Green’s situation.

East Lansing Police Lt Scott Wrigglesworth said the alleged victim, an adult male, was not injured and did not flag down an officer after the incident.

Green is scheduled for arraignment on July 20.

An East Lansing police spokesman did not immediately return a call seeking details. But they didn’t think Green was arrested there, which conflicts with an ESPN report. If convicted, Green would face a maximum of 93 days in prison besides a fine of $500.

Green is among a dozen players who are expected to make up the USA team for the Rio Summer Games and he is scheduled to attend the men’s Olympic basketball camp in Las Vegas on July 18-21.

U.S. Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo told ESPN, “We are still awaiting details”. It was, however, a turbulent postseason for the former Spartan, who showed flashes of brilliance in helping the Warriors reach the NBA Finals, but was also suspended for a game of the Finals after landing a kick to the body of LeBron James.

As a professional, Green was named an All-Star for the first time in his career this season, averaging 14.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 34.7 minutes per game.
