Warriors join elite company with consecutive 5-0 starts

Using an 11-2 burst, Los Angeles reclaimed their first lead of the game since the opening quarter at 79-77, and they’d head into the final frame leading the Warriors 83-82. The 27-year-old is off to an historical start.

Curry hit two free throws to extend the lead to four with 19.8 seconds left. Curry has been even better.

In 33 minutes per game, Curry is averaging 39.3 points, 7.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 5.7 made 3-pointers and just 1.7 turnovers. Who would be another player, besides Curry, who needs to perform well for the Warriors to be successful most nights? Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook is second with a 32.0 average.

The 27-year-old Warrior had already killed the Pelicans in their season-opener with his 40 points and he did the same against James Harden and the Houston Rockets dropping 25 points, according to Bleacher Report.

It was also a huge win for the Warriors since the two teams entered the game both undefeated and are starting to build a competitive rivalry in the tough Western Conference. More amazingly, Curry has launched roughly four more threes per game so far than he did on average last season, when he led the league in that category, yet his 3-point shooting percentage has still somehow gone up by roughly four percentage points. So after his incredible 2014-15 season, it may have been natural to assume that this was as good as Curry could get. Draymond Green is grabbing 7.5 rebounds and Andre Iguodala is dishing 3.5 assists.

Even if he does go on to win the MVP award, Curry’s current pace isn’t sustainable.

Nets shooting guard Joe Johnson continued his early-season struggles by scoring just five points on 1 of 10 shooting in Wednesday’s 101-87 loss to the Hawks.

He finished by connecting on eight of 18 attempts from the floor, two of 10 from three-point range – his 80th straight game with at least one three-pointer, the third-longest such streak in National Basketball Association history. After the first quarter, Memphis led Golden State 22-21, but that was the last time the Grizzlies came within reach of the Warriors. “We’re a team that has championship aspirations, and for us to do that, we have to win”.

Interim Grizzlies coach Luke Walton has said that there’s a pressure factor when they begin making shots and they begin locking up on guard, as it can cause players to fold, but Memphis is not one of those as they had just a reduced shooting night.
