Warriors outlast Nets in OT

Nearly. They needed a big Stephen Curry second half and one huge Andre Iguodala three pointer to make it into overtime against the Brooklyn Nets before finishing them off for good.

The Warriors’ 10-0 start is the best in franchise history, and the level at which the team is executing suggests that the best is yet to come.

Last night against the Brooklyn Nets, Curry made his 1,246th career three pointer to eclipse the career number of three pointers of his father Dell.

Jack led the Nets with 28 points. But for those of us who endured The Dark Ages (historians debate the exact range of this time period, but it’s approximately the years between 1997-2002 when the Warriors struggled to win more than a quarter of their games), what Nets fans are going through might be unfortunately familiar.

The Warriors have now won 24 straight home games dating back to last season and also stay unbeaten at 14-0 in their “Slate” Alternate uniforms. The Warriors defeated the Nets 107-99 in overtime.

It remains to be seen if starting guard Klay Thompson will be available to play against the Raptors after missing the Nets game with back stiffness. “This is definitely a great way to start the season”, Curry told reporters in a deadpanned tone.

The ridiculous Golden State Warrior has, game in and game out so far this season, done a few absurd sh*t with an inch of space and a basketball, so it’s pretty fitting that he breaks a few records along the way.

Assisting him was forward Thaddeus Young who had a double-double 26 points and 10 rebounds, with three assists and three steals.

Jarrett Jack had a team-high 21 points (5-for-10 shooting) and 12 assists in Friday’s game. Of his 42 made field goals on the season, 32 of them have been assisted. But the Nets failed to get the ball across midcourt in eight seconds, turning the ball back over to the Warriors with still 15.3 seconds to go.

Draymond Green recorded a triple-double, the second of his career, with 16 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

Golden State looked sluggish at both ends of the court, with Curry hitting just 2 of 9 shots in the opening quarter and the team as a whole making just 8 of 22 shots (36.4 percent). While sports analysts predicted a competitive Western Conference at the start of the season, the Warriors now look like they will run over every other team in the league. There is a lot to like about this team, but what I like the most is how they can insert their second unit and build a double-digit lead against their opponent’s bench. Andrew Bogut had 10 points and 18 rebounds.

But Andre Iguodala’s clutch three before Lopez’s miss sent the game to OT. But the Nets rallied to retake a 91-90 lead on a pair of free throws by Jack with 1:45 to go, setting up the tight finish and, eventually, the overtime.

“No win is guaranteed in this league, and teams that are down are always the ones that come to bite you”, said Iguodala, who saved the day with his 3-pointer when everyone in building figured Stephen Curry would be the one to take the last shot.
