Warriors’ Stephen Curry won’t play in Game 2

Warriors guard Stephen Curry did not participate in shootaround and remains questionable to play in Game 2 against the Houston Rockets on Monday.

Curry, team physicians, Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Warriors general manager Bob Myers met in the training room after Curry’s exit.

Hopefully, this injury is nothing more than a tweak that Curry can either take a game off and rest from, or maybe he can play through it and give us all a wonderful performance after playing just 20 minutes in the opening game of the series. He tried to come back in the second half before being quickly pulled by Kerr, who noticed Curry wasn’t right.

“Every time we reached, we fouled him, and they were all fouls”, Kerr said.

“We’ve relied on our depth all year, not just when Steph’s out”, Draymond Green said. “If they don’t, we’re just not going to score enough points”, says Kerr. “In that case, we’d play him”.

“I’m preparing as if he’s not going to play because you don’t want to be surprised at a game-time decision”, teammate Klay Thompson said.

And the match-up itself is truly the reason why Golden State should be glad that they get to face Houston rather than Utah.

Houston Rockets’ Patrick Beverley, right, drives the ball against Golden State Warriors’ Shaun Livingston during the first half in Game 2 of a first-round NBA basketball playoff series Monday, April 18, 2016, in Oakland, Calif. A… Game 3 is Thursday in Houston.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, their star player Curry injured his ankle during their game against the Rockets. He missed practice on Sunday, then sat out of Monday morning shoot-around in order to receive treatment for the ankle instead.

“Obviously 30 points out of the lineup, a lot of playmaking, a lot of easy buckets”, Thompson said. Multiple Golden State players have spoken of needing to move the ball more in Curry’s absence. I think the Warriors are that good. And the Warriors, who have a not-so-secret weapon in Klay Thompson to lead the defensive effort, made them look like one of the worst. Luckily for the Warriors, they have a bench that is able to contribute to their team’s success.

Warriors' Stephen Curry appears for warm-ups, still questionable for Game 2
