Warriors thump Cavaliers in rematch
Oakland: Golden State Warriors out scored on Friday the Cleveland Cavaliers 89-83, in a repeat of last year’s final. Instead of doing it with three-pointers, Golden State maintained its edge over Cleveland by limiting the Cavaliers to 32percent shooting. Meanwhile, the Cavilers dropped to 19-8, snapping their six game winning streak they had coming to Oracle Arena.

Forward Kevin Love, another who struggled big-time offensively (5-for-16), contributed 10 points and a game-high 18 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who were playing the opener of a four-game Western swing.
89 – While both teams played excellent defense in Friday’s NBA Finals rematch, the Cavs outperformed even their own grandest wishes, holding the Warriors to only 89 points, their season low by an impressive six points.
On a night when the Warriors shot just 41.0 percent and failed to score 100 points for the first time in 48 games, they won despite Curry’s 6-for-15 shooting.
Kevin Durant had 29 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Oklahoma City, who went into the game with nine wins from ten games.
“That’s more of a statement, that we’re hungry to win another championship”, Walton said.
While many National Basketball Association greats rely on uncommon height and athletic ability that average fans can only dream of having, Curry’s game relies on the traits that every casual player can work on: shoot, dribble and pass. With his shooting off all afternoon (25 points on 26 shots), it wasn’t a formula for Cleveland to succeed.
James Harden led from the front for the Rockets as he scored 20 points and dished out nine assists. “One game, either way, doesn’t do it for us”.
Cleveland managed to claw back within three points on a few occasions, including when Cavs guard J.R. Smith buried a 3-pointer with 1:08 remaining to cut the Warriors’ lead to 83-80.
“Tonight our defense was absolutely unbelievable for all 48 minutes”, Warriors center Andrew Bogut said.

As evidenced by its resumé, Golden State is perhaps the best basketball team on the planet when it comes to dictating an uptempo, favorable pace, and it once again imposed its style of basketball down the final stretch. He’s spending this year watching them improve into possibly the greatest team ever. With 8 seconds left in the game, the camera focused on Green standing at the foulline, getting ready for his second free throw. Kobe Bryant scored 12 points in his league-record 16th and final Christmas Day game for the Los Angeles Lakers.
