Max Muncy broke up the no hitter with a double in the 9th and Coco Crisp broke up the shutout by doubling in Muncy.

Lewis took a flawless game two outs into the eighth before issuing a four-pitch walk to Yonder Alonso.
It was the second time in less than a year that Lewis has been ideal for seven innings against the A’s.
Mazara, a rookie who made a nice running catch to rob Muncy in the third, ran hard as he angled back to the corner.

But Lewis did need to wait until the seventh to get a lead, and after that it was just a matter of building anticipation over whether he would pitch the 24th game in major league history.
Lewis isn’t going to get you a lot of strikeouts, but he’s an excellent contact pitcher who won’t be a detriment to your lineup.
The effort came against an A’s team that had hit a cumulative. The Orioles have hit 33 home runs in their last 13 games.
Blake Snell, a 23-year-old Seattle native, was recalled from Triple-A Durham before the game and started for the Rays. He’ 0-1 with a 6.25 ERA in his two previous interleague starts since coming to Texas and is 2-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 12 career starts against the St. Louis Cardinals.
PHILADELPHIA – Kevin Pillar hit two home runs and Edwin Encarnacion homered and drove in four runs as Toronto battered Philadelphia. Beltre singled for the second time, getting Mazara to third base.
Right-hander Ryan Dull replaced Mengden two batters later, with the bases loaded, and struck out Elvis Andrus and Bobby Wilson to keep the A’s with in 2-0.
Ryan Rua responded with the signature out of the day, a leaping, over-the-shoulder catch on the warning track to preserve perfection. The Rangers took a 5-0 lead into the ninth inning.

The A’s, now 27-39, are now 14 games out of first place, their low-water mark for the season.

Beltre, returning from a week on the bench while resting a strained hamstring, had three of the Rangers’ nine hits, including a double. The 43-year-old allowed the two runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out eight in lowering his ERA to 3.01. He allowed two runs (one earned) and just four hits. “If there’s a silver lining to that, it’s that we didn’t get no-hit or shut out or see a flawless game”. Both teams remain undecided on a Saturday starter.
