Washington College in Maryland has closed its campus until further notice after a student went missing after returning home to Pennsylvania to get a gun.
According to the College’s Twitter account, around 9:15 AM on Tuesday, law enforcement received new information, leading to the decision to once again cancel classes.
The school said on its website Monday that it had planned to resume normal operations Tuesday morning, but announced in a statement (below) this morning that classes will be cancelled again.
There’ll be a Washington College staff member soon in the residence hall to check out you before you leave.
All students on Tuesday were told to return to their residence halls immediately, and students who live off campus should return to their homes. We will continue to update the community throughout the day as the situation evolves.
School officials said faculty and staff should return to their offices or remain in their offices until further notice. “We have had extensive consultation throughout the day with law enforcement, and we will have extra police presence on campus tonight assigned to Washington College”.
The College says there have not been any direct threats against the campus, or any one of the community, but they feel closing campus is the best course of action. He was last seen driving a 1997 dark green Range Rover with Pennsylvania plates beginning with “JWY”.
Marberger is described as 5 foot 4 inches tall, 130 pounds, with light skin and curly brown hair.
