Washington congressman urges probe on Michael Flynn and Russia’s influence on US

But the President also said a new executive order would be tailored to the court’s ruling to ensure that it could legally go into force.

Trump was asked several times about whether his campaign had contact with Russian Federation and grew testy as reporters pushed him for a yes-or-no answer.

She points out that the Kremlin has denied that Flynn discussed lifting sanctions with the Russian envoy, and today it only added that the resignation was an internal matter for the United States to deal with. Flynn previously had denied those conversations to Pence and other top officials.

At the news briefing on Tuesday, Mr Spicer explained why the president had asked Mr Flynn for his resignation, saying there was an “evolving and eroding level of trust”.

It now appears Flynn may have lied to more than the White House about what he discussed with Ambassador Sergey I. Kislyak in a conversation that was captured on a routine wiretap of diplomats’ calls.

Ernst, a retired Army officer and member of the Senate Armed Services Committee who previous year was discussed as a potential vice president to Trump, repeated several times during the call that “Russia is not our friend” and questioned whether the White House shared that view. President Trump knew this at least as early as January 26.

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn was sacked due to “an erosion of trust”, Trump’s spokesman Sean Spicer says.

“Under repeated questioning during an investigation conducted by the White House Counsel’s office, General Flynn – I’m told – had a full recollection of what he talked about with the Russian ambassador”, Mr Roberts said.

Trump in fact predicted how this “animated and unorthodox” news conference will be interpreted in the press.

In an interview with the Post this week, Kislyak also confirmed having made contact with Flynn before the election.

President Trump blasted leaks from within his administration and to the news media and denied ties to Russian Federation. “I don’t have any deals in Russian Federation”.

“Russia is a ruse”, he said. He was calling countries and his counterparts.

Flynn has now acknowledged he gave “incomplete information” about the phone calls.

The unnamed intelligence agency is conducting investigations out of fear that Russian Federation is manipulating the USA government in order to destabilize North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.

Congress must learn what Flynn said to the Russians and to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The subject of the hour-plus press conference was ostensibly his choice for Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta, who was announced just one day after CKE Restaurants CEO Andrew Puzder withdrew his nomination, though Trump spoke only briefly on the nomination. “It’s nothing to do with us”.

In a sharp reversal on his stance on leaked information during the election campaign, President Donald Trump told Republican lawmakers that his administration is going to make officials who leak information “pay”.

“The media is trying to attack our administration because they know we are following through on pledges that we made, and they’re not happy about it, for whatever reason”, he said.

Several House Democrats had already called on Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz to launch an investigation into Mr Flynn’s ties to Russian Federation.
