Washington Post Reporter Denied Access, Searched At Pence Rally
Pence seemed uncomfortable with what happened Wednesday at a rally in Wisconsin, where a Washington Post reporter was denied entry, even after waiting in the general-admission line and agreeing to leave his cellphone and computer in his auto. At this time, the event staff asked two Sheriff’s Deputies who were assigned to a security post nearby to pat down the reporter.

Asked by DelReal if people could enter without their cellphones, security officials reportedly replied, “Not if they work for The Washington Post”.
DelReal tried to enter the Waukesha County Exposition Center, outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin, through the general-admission line after volunteers at a press check-in desk turned him down for a credential.
DelReal was in the Milwaukee suburb to cover a rally headlined by in governor and vice-presidential nominee Mike Pence. When they verified that he wasn’t carrying his phone, DelReal was again denied entrance by the security official.
“If we appoint strict constructionists to the Supreme Court as Donald Trump intends to do, I believe we will see Roe v. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs”, Pence said during a town hall-style event at the DeltaPlex in suburban Grand Rapids.
“First, press credentials for the Washington Post were revoked by Donald Trump”, Post executive editor Martin Baron told the paper.
Pence spokesman Marc Lotter tells the The Associated Press, “Our events are open to everyone and we are looking into the alleged incident”. Private security experts – although not yet any US government agencies – say they found clues that point to hacking groups whose targets track the strategic interests of Russia’s government. The reason given to DelReal was that he was denied access because he is a Washington Post reporter. “We need a president who will lead America back to strength at home and overseas, and that man is Donald Trump”. “It’s more important than ever for Democrats to come together and make sure that we get Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine as president and vice president of the United States”.
Mike Pence isn’t promising anything, but it looks like he might be journalists’ best hope for ending Donald Trump’s crackdowns on the media.
“It deprives the public of information to which the public is entitled”, Lueders said.
Pence has taken positions – especially on trade – that put him in opposition to Trump, and his association with a conservative social agenda as governor will drive some voters away; but he’s a solid choice for the party, and one that will probably help the campaign more than it will hurt it.

The Trump campaign later released a statement claiming its candidate meant doctors who performed abortions should be punished.
