Washington’s Cherry Blossoms Near Peak Bloom
Over a million visitors are expected to stroll along the Tidal Basin in Washington where over a century ago hundreds of cherry trees were planted by Helen Taft, wife of the president.

This year, peak bloom – when 70 percent of the trees are at their most colorful – began March 23, which means you have plenty time to watch the live stream from the comfort of your home.
The trees are situated along the Tidal Basin near the National Mall.
Peak bloom lasts about four to 10 days, the NPS said. Strong winds, rain, high temperatures and frost can shorten the timeframe.

Saturday’s opening ceremony at the historic Warner Theater is sold out, but some walk-ins will be admitted at 4:45 p.m.
President of the Cherry Blossom Festival, Jake Ferro, says the festival just wouldn’t be the same without a fashion show, “It’s really part of the traditional, signature events of the festival”. Nonetheless, there is no denying that the cherry blossoms in full bloom are the main attraction.
