The reports suggest that the unidentified men first hit Akram’s auto and then opened fire at him when he walked out of his vehicle on Karsaz Road which is near National Stadium. “His appearance resembled that of an official”, Akram told local media.

He retired from playing in 2003 and is now running a Pakistan Cricket Board fast bowling training camp at the National Stadium. During this exchange, someone fired and a bullet hit the tyre of Akram’s auto, in what seems to be a case of road rage.

“A auto hit my vehicle from the rear and a person sitting in the other auto fired a shot at me”.

Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) East Munir Sheikh said the police has retrieved the CCTV footage of the incident and will identify the attackers with the help of the excise department.

Police said the information was being collected about the incident.

The fast-bowler however remained safe in the attack.

Akram reported the incident to the police and later registered a formal complaint where they are investigating at the spot.

Akram is one of the most talented cricketers of all time.
