‘Wasn’t intimidating to work with Big B’

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan turns 74 next month but he says he’s still hungry for new challenges after his latest movie about sexual violence against women left him deeply moved. Interestingly, when producer Shoojit Sircar was quizzed about having Senior Bachchan on board, he revealed that the veteran actor gave his nod to the script in just 5 minutes of the narration.

Talking about Pink, the Baby star says it is not about rape or sexual assault.

However, it’s the women who end up on trial. The trailer itself reads “A dark truth they can’t hide”. Perhaps, he did write them a more heartfelt and fierce letter that he hasn’t released to the public in order to retain his problematic sanskari image.

The letter has come into some amount of disapproval from a section of the media which feels the letter is part of the publicity for Big B’s new release Pink. So I don’t think you would want to waste your ‘heart-warming ‘letter on me.

The movie, which talks about the current condition of women in our country, is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury.

Bachchan quickly became Bollywood’s most internationally-recognised star due to a string of starring roles. We in Indian cinema don’t like to hold back emotions.

The actor, who is the son of former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi, said Bachchan helped him a lot during the workshops prior to shooting the film on sets.

Bachchan, whose father was a renowned poet, said dealing with the adoration of millions throughout his career had been easy because it was the only life he had ever known.

Thank you Shoojit Sircar Amitabh Bachchan. These were all jobs that were done by men. Bindi, hair, saree and the attitude everything added to her stylish look. I get whatever comes to me. I should be given an opportunity to counter or accept that. But after hearing all his praises, I was kind of double-concentrating on my work while watching “Pink”, and after it was over, I thought, “Itna hi kiya (That’s all I have done)?” In both “Shoebite” and “Piku”, he felt he was challenged as an actor.
