Wasserman Schultz booed during raucous DNC breakfast meeting

Norman Solomon, coordinator of an independent network of Sanders delegates, said that Wasserman Schultz’s resignation doesn’t represent “her being tossed overboard by Hillary Clinton”, noting that she’ll have a role with the campaign.

The outgoing chair said she spoke with both Clinton and Obama on Sunday amid calls from Sanders and others for her resignation.

On Sunday, she stepped down as DNC chair on the eve of the convention kick-off in the City of Brotherly Love. The email dump provided by Wikileaks also highlighted DNC staffers mocking Bernie Sanders jewish faith. There appeared to be no consensus among the Sanders delegates of how they would influence the convention and some suggested they may turn their backs on Virginia Sen. The bit that she could get over the crowd talked about it being an honor to have served the party up until now and vowing to continue campaigning as a surrogate for Hillary Clinton.

“Our objective was to express our feelings that the behavior of Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the Democratic National Committee tipped the scales during the primary”, he said.

Yet many die-hard backers of Sanders they weren’t ready to coalesce around Clinton’s presidential bid despite his pleas. “I am grateful to Debbie for getting the Democratic Party to this year’s historic convention in Philadelphia, and I know that this week’s events will be a success thanks to her hard work and leadership”, she said.

Monday afternoon Sanders sent out a signed text message to his delegates that read: “I ask you as a personal courtesy to me to not engage in any kind of protest on the floor”.

“I’m really annoyed”, said MI delegate Bruce Fealk.

“We got 3.7 million more votes, we won this election, we will be the nominee of the party”. “Going forward, the best way for me to accomplish those goals is to step down as Party Chair at the end of this convention”.

Schake said the fact Schultz stepped down as chair, after saying there was no way that she would step down before her tenure was completed, showed a great sign of unity.
