Wasserman Schultz Shouted Down By Sanders Backers

Bernie Sanders, addressing his delegates in advance of this week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, received huge cheers when he mentioned the impending resignation of Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the soon-to-be-former head of the Democratic National Committee. The statement gave few details on the departure, but it comes as leaked emails show the DNC apparently favored Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders in the primary process, even though they are supposed to be impartial.

Democratic National Committee emails published at WikiLeaks prove conclusively what most of us have known all along: Democratic Party officials had their thumbs on the scale for Hillary Clinton.

The scandal has already led to Ms Wasserman Schultz announcing on Sunday that she would stand down as chairwoman of the DNC at the end of the convention, but this was not enough for Sanders supporters.

Outgoing DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will not gavel in the Democratic convention this afternoon as originally planned.

That seemed increasingly untenable after Wasserman Schultz’s home-state delegation met her at the daily delegates’ breakfast with a mixture of cheers and boos. Bernie Sanders in his bid for the nomination. We also know that they have been tampered with.

That wish was granted after she was booed and heckled by her fellow Floridians.

With the jeers rising, Wasserman Schultz left the stage after a few minutes and exited through a side door with a gaggle of TV cameras in tow. I always wanted a woman for president, I think she’ll do a good job.

Sanders says his supporters should continue to push for the “transformation of American society”.

“That’s the kind of leader he is and that’s what gets people so fired up that he’s so connected to the people and what their needs are”, says Williams-Preston.

“We know that the voices in this room that are standing up and being disruptive – we know that that’s not the Florida we know”, she told the crowd.

Trump took particular delight in making light of Democratic disunity as party loyalists gather in Philadelphia this week to anoint Clinton as their nominee, after a week in which Republicans struggled to unify behind Trump at their convention in Cleveland.

Wasserman Schultz continued to speak despite the protest.
